The star has donated the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to protect the Britain's grassroots live music spots.

Fender was awarded the award on mid-October as his third album the album was named the top album of the last 12 months.

He has chosen to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages played in his early career.

"I personally couldn't be pursuing my current career if it weren't for all the gigs I played around the area, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," remarked Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these spaces have shut down – roughly 16% of the total UK scene.

Recently, well-known musicians such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its attempts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a modest fee to their admission fees, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also joined in, raising in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to help 38 local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds assisted spaces that were confronting potential shutdown due to issues caused by floods, fires and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and noise complaints.

Additional spaces obtained financial assistance in modernizing facilities and technical equipment that helped artists and fans.

"The notion that funds from concerts in big venues helps the smaller venues, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just logical," the star has stated.

The musician is among several artists to give his award winnings to good deeds.

Back when the band received the award in the mid-90s for their record the album, lead singer Jarvis Cocker stated that the act would donate their cash to the charity the charity.

During 2002, musician Ms Dynamite divided her award among multiple charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I contributed a thousand pounds to my local community centre, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they required updated gear," the artist shared with the media.

In recent years, the band gave their funds to the youth organization that developed their group, alongside other local music groups.

Also the 1994 recipients M People contributed their award to a charity for MS after a close contact was diagnosed the condition.

"Winning was ample," said vocalist Small. "The money was the cherry on top but we could do without the cherry, because we had the cake. So our winning touched another person's life."

In the past week, the trust shared it had protected two grassroots venues in that region, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The first in Southampton and The Croft in that location were bought under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is funded by Arts Council England and music fans who buy "shares" in the properties.
